Proclamation of 1763
This was the first law the british enforced on the Americans. This law stated that no colonists could settle west of the Appalacian Mountains. The reason for this law was because the british didn't want to engage in another war with the Native Americans. The colonists tried to settle west of the Appalacian Mountains but were forced back by british soldiers guarding the proclamation line.
