Paul Revere's Ride

Not long after the Americans had formed state militias to defeat the British, British troops went to through the town of Lexington, Massachusetts in an attempt to steal supplies from the Concord armory in Concord, New Hampshire. To warn the american leaders of this british activity, the colonies put together a messenger squad. One of these messengers' name was Paul Revere. Revere was a silversmith who lived in Boston, Massachusetts. He was assigned a route through Lexington that would allow him to warn the american leaders of the british activity. One night when the british were about to come through Lexington, Revere and other patriot messengers rode through Lexington shouting "The british are coming, the british are coming"! American leaders such as Samuel Adams and John Hancock who were in Lexington that night escaped just as the british soldiers arrived to arrest them. Revere was captured by the british but was bailed out of confinement a few months later.
